SMG SMGTEXYarn Feeding Technology Talk to an Engineer

Yarn feeding and control technology

Stable yarn feeding for knitting that runs.

SMG manufactures knitting machine components and electronic yarn feeding products for circular, flat and hosiery machines. We work on one part of the process: the yarn, from the moment it enters the machine until it forms a stable stitch.

  • 3 systems Circular, flat and hosiery knitting
  • In house Manufacturing, engineering and quality
  • OEM / ODM Standard parts and customer-specific components
  • One focus The yarn path, from entry to stitch

Core value

Built to keep a machine running.

What a knitter buys from a component supplier is not a part — it is uptime. SMG works on the segment that decides it: how the yarn is fed, how the tension holds and what the machine does when something goes wrong.

  • Precision manufacturing Machining centres, CNC equipment and automated production, with inspection built into the production route rather than added at the end.
  • One focus The yarn path: feeding, tension, storage, detection and control. We do not build knitting machines and we do not spread across the whole control system.
  • Engineering response Development, application support and problem solving stay in house, so adapting a product to a real working condition does not leave the company.
  • Long-term supply Standard models held in stock, special specifications produced to order, and the same result from the first shipment to the tenth.

Why customers keep a second source beside the imported brand

Why SMG

In house

Machined and inspected on our own equipment.

Component and assembly capacity stays inside the company, so the specification that was confirmed is the specification that ships.

Product categories

Three product families around the yarn path.

From standard and replacement components for machines already in the field, to the feeding and tension parts around the yarn, to electronic yarn feeders. Each family is supplied to the same specification every time.

Machine applications

Circular, flat and hosiery.

The three machine types behave differently, but they ask the same thing of the yarn: even delivery, stable tension and a fault that is reported instead of hidden. SMG supplies components and feeding products for all three.

What we supply, machine by machine

  • Circular knitting Feeding, tension and replacement components for high-speed circular machines, where a single head out of step shows up in the fabric.
  • Flat knitting Components and feeding parts for machines running multiple yarns and frequent yarn changes, where tension has to recover quickly.
  • Hosiery Feeding and wear components for hosiery machines, where short cycles and constant speed make repeatability the whole argument.

Key solutions

What the yarn does, under control.

Most feeding problems are not one big failure. They are small variations that compound: a package that pulls harder, a tension that drifts with speed, a break that is noticed only when the fabric shows it. SMG works on each of those points.

  1. 01 Consistent feeding

Electronic feeding and yarn storage keep delivery even across the machine, as packages empty and speed changes.

  2. 02 Tension control

Tension held inside its working window instead of drifting with package size, yarn count and machine speed.

  3. 03 Break and status detection

Feeding faults and yarn breaks are reported when they happen, so the machine stops instead of producing faulty fabric.

  4. 04 Repeatable settings

A proven setup is recorded, so the next machine starts from a known configuration rather than from tuning by feel.

Case evidence

Proven on the machine before it is promised.

An electronic feeder changes how the yarn behaves, so SMG does not sell it from a catalogue description. A sample is installed on a real machine, run under production conditions and compared with the figures the mill already records. Case material is published only where the customer agrees to it.

  • Baseline Breaks, speed, tension and stop time recorded before anything is changed.
  • Trial Sample installed on your machine and run on your yarn and fabric.
  • Comparison Before and after measured on the same indicators, not on impressions.
  • Confirmation Results reviewed with your technicians before any volume commitment.
  • Repeatability The same result on the first shipment and on the tenth.
  • Records What was supplied, to which specification, and when.

Quality & Testing

Manufacturing & quality

Machined in house. Inspected in the route.

Components are produced on our own equipment, by teams that also develop the products and answer for them. Inspection is a step in the production route rather than a final gate, so a problem is caught where it is made.

What stays in the company

  • Own factory and production lines Component and assembly capacity kept in house rather than outsourced.
  • Machining centres, CNC and automated equipment Precision machining of metal components in production volumes.
  • Engineering and quality teams Development, application support and inspection under one roof.
  • Stock and made-to-order together Standard models held in stock; low-frequency and special specifications produced to order.

Consistency is the product

What customers reorder is not a drawing — it is the same result, batch after batch. Inspection, functional testing and batch records exist to keep that promise when volume grows.

  1. 01 Incoming and in-process inspection

Material and machined features are checked during production, not only at the end of the route.

  2. 02 Functional and running tests

Electronic products are tested in function, and new products are validated on real machines in more than one application.

  3. 03 Batch records and traceability

What was supplied, to which specification and when — so a repeat order is a repeat, not a re-negotiation.

Manufacturing Capabilities

Global service

Markets, channels and support.

Most of our business is with knitting machine builders, who specify SMG components on new machines. Overseas, components and electronic feeders are supplied through distributors and service partners, who keep stock and give local technical support.

  • India
  • Bangladesh
  • Vietnam
  • Indonesia
  • Turkey
  • Egypt
  • Germany
  • Brazil
  • Mexico

Markets served, and the markets we are building

These are the countries where SMG products are already in use or where we are actively developing a channel. The list is deliberately short: we would rather support a market properly than appear everywhere at once.

  • Machine builders Components and electronic feeders specified on new machines, with engineering support and custom parts.
  • Distributors A product range to sell beside the established brands, with stock on standard models and technical backup.
  • Knitting mills Replacement parts and feeding upgrades for machines that are already running in production.
  • Service partners Model identification, spare parts and installation support to shorten machine downtime.

On the machine

Proven where it has to work.

Electronic feeding is validated on real machines in more than one application before it is released, and the configuration is written down against the machine it ran on.

Next step

Tell us the machine, the yarn and the problem.

Send the machine type and model, the yarn you are running and what you see on the fabric. An engineer comes back with the recommended configuration — or tells you where a change is not worth making.
